The Best Number 9s in Club Football this season 2017-18

  1. Mauro Icardi:

The Argentine has been among the goals in the past few seasons but this season, it has been impressively different. The Inter Milan striker is currently outstanding for the Italian side, scoring 18 goals in 24 appearances. He is bound to beat his own records with the form he is having. It will come as no surprise if he joins one of the top European clubs in the summer with the likes of PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid all reportedly interested in signing him.

  1. Roberto Firmino:

Technically it is unsure if Firmino can be called as a #9 but in any case he is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League. Firmino has the finesse, dribbling skills and goal scoring abilities to be absolutely lethal playing centrally. He has already scored 22 goals in 38 appearances, providing 12 assists. With Salah being world class, at times Firmino’s contribution is undermined, but the Brazilian surely has been a delight to watch this season.

  1. Robert Lewandowski:

It is no surprise to see the Polish striker in this list. Lewandowski has consistently been among the goals for Bayern Munich. This season, he has already scored 29 goals and some of them have been late in the game, clinching some crucial points. Lewandowski has rarely seen a dip in form with the Bavarians and as the rumors suggest, he can be seen playing with either Real Madrid or a team in the Premier League.

  1. Luis Suarez:

The Uruguayan may have been involved in controversies in the past but what has been consistent about him is his form in front of the goal. May it be Ajax, Liverpool or Barcelona, Suarez has scored goals on a regular basis. After having a slow start to the season, Suarez has picked up well and has scored 23 goals and assisted in 10 other goals. He has adapted well in Valverde’s 4-2-3-1 system being the lone striker. He will want to do well against Chelsea in the second leg of the Champions League as the Uruguayan would like to win the European tournament this season.

  1. Edison Cavani:

From one Uruguayan to another, Cavani has been amazing with Paris Saint Germain this season. With Neymar and Mbappe both joining the attacking force of the French club, Cavani has only got better with the arrivals around him. Even though it’s the Ligue 1, Cavani has managed to be consistent and has scored 30 goals this season and assisted in 8 other goals. With Neymar reportedly out of the second leg against Real Madrid, Cavani has to lead from front to help the French club stand a chance of moving further in the Champions League.
