Aston Villa’s manager Roberto Di Matteo has told the press that there is no release clause in Jordan Ayew’s contract and that he will remain at Aston Villa for the foreseeable future. There were rumours circulating linking the striker with West Ham. The twenty-four-year-old who signed for Aston Villa in July 2015, having moved across from Lorient who play in Ligue 1 has been one of the only things the club could smile about last season. The young striker was Aston Villa’s top goal scorer last season, netting himself seven goals to his name. He made this league appearances for his club, coming off the bench in seven of them.
Aston Villa’s new owner, Dr Tony Xia spoke to the media recently and had this to say about the situation. “Jordan Ayew is going to stay here. He is going to be part of our plans. His qualities will shine. We’re not looking to sell. It is not a question!” manager Roberto Di Matteo backed up his club owner and confirmed that there is no intention to sell the player and that he will remain a Villa player.
Aston Villa now faces a hard and tough battle ahead as they are about to start a season in the Championship. A league that is known for being a tough one to crack, and for many football gurus’s it’s often said that the Championship league, is harder than the Premier League. Let’s hope not for Villa’s sake as they were shocking last season!
