- Ruud Van Nistelrooy:
The Dutchman was one hell of a striker of his time and there’s hardly who could deny that. He played for PSV Eindhoven and Real Madrid but it was with Manchester United that established as one of the best strikers in Europe and the Premier league. He went on to finish as the highest goalscorer in the Champions league on three different occasions with Manchester United before he signed for Real Madrid. He scored 56 goals in 73 Champions league matches to stay as the fifth highest goal scorer in the tournament till date.
- Karim Benzema:
The Frenchman may have lost his charm in front of the goal right now but he has had very good performances in the Champions league in the past few years. He sometimes struggle to get the credit deserves and it is only fair to treat him right given his impressive record in the UCL. Benzema has scored 59 goals in 110 UCL games till date and can get even better if he finds his form back.
- Raul Gonzalez:
Another Los Blanco player in the list is Spanish legend Raul Gonzalez. Raul had a stellar career with Real Madrid. Raul was lucky enough to win the UCL three times and was also the highest goal scorer in the tournament once. Raul has scored 71 goals in 142 appearances in the European tournament and was the leading goal scorer before Lionel Messi broke his record in 2014.
- Lionel Messi:
There aren’t enough words to describe the greatness of Lionel Messi on the football pitch. He is a magician and a fantastic footballer to say the least. His goal scoring attributes have been a boon to the game and Barcelona and with those abilities, the Argentine has brutally dominated the UCL from some time now. Till date he has scored 106 goals and was leading the goal scoring charts before his arch rival Cristiano Ronaldo broke his record and took over as the highest goal scorer.
- Cristiano Ronaldo:
Alike Messi, Ronaldo has achieved nothing short of a legendary status in this amazing game of football. The Portuguese captain is one of the most lethal strikers in the world right now and there is very little one can do to stop him when on song. Having played for some great clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, Ronaldo has been effective for each of them in the Champions league. He leads the goal scoring charts currently with 121 goals to his name.
