5 reasons why Liverpool can win the Champions League

Let’s take a look at 5 reasons why Liverpool can land the coveted Champions League trophy this year.

  • A monster in the defence- Liverpool‘s defence is like a wall. With Allison protecting the goal, the four man backline can stop any attack at will. Alexander Arnold and Robertson have been outstanding as full backs this season. Their ability to put in deadly crosses from the wings is unparalleled. The heart of the defence is formed by the monster Virgil Van Dijk and his deputee Joel Matip. Van Dijk is currently without a doubt the best centre back in the world. Having bagged the PFA player of the year, he will be keen to add the UCL trophy to his collection.

  • Brilliant in attacking prowess- A front trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah have wreaked havoc this season. Right now both Salah and Firmino are out injured but they will be back for the final on the 1st of June. The trio press high and are lightning quick in counter attacks. Substitute striker Divock Origi wreaked havoc in the semi finals against Barcelona. They even havethe brilliant Xherdan Shaqiri on the bench. Klopp knows how to use his attackers well for maximum damage.

  • The Klopp factor- It’s no doubt that Jurgen Klopp knows how to entertain fans. Benitez and Brendan Rogers were certainly good but the German is an absolute fanatic! Even when he was with Dortmund, Klopp transformed the team into something else. He has done the same with Liverpool. Overturning a three goal deficit in the semi finals against an opposition like Barcelona was a joy to watch. Klopp will still have the previous year’s horrific final etched on his mind. He knows the final having been there twice, once with Dortmund and another with Liverpool. Third time’s the charm they say.

  • Liverpool has the experience- Liverpool has previously won the Champions League five times. They will be itching for a sixth trophy. Winning their last one in 2005, in one of the best finals against AC Milan. The Reds do know what it is like to play in the finals, having also been in the same position last year. While they lost last time to Real Madrid, Liverpool is ready this year.

  • You’ll never walk alone- Liverpool has won supporters with their brand of football worldwide. We saw the dramatic turnaround in Anfield against Barca. Never for one moment did Liverpool fans lose hope or give up on their team. The You’ll never walk alone chants fuel Liverpool players to give their all. Who can forget the spectacular night at Istanbul 14 years ago? There is one thing about the Reds; they never give up. With Klopp at the wheel, Liverpool has rediscovered their passion and will go all the way in Madrid.
