- Thiago Alcantara:
Thiago has developed wonderfully well over the years and it seems he has become the complete midfielder. Ever since he left Barcelona for Bayern Munich, Alcantara has looked very sharp and smart with his passing and play-making in the midfield. It seems that he is open to a move away from the Bavarians and although it looks that Barcelona is his preferred choice, United should try their level best to get his signature and add a monster of a midfielder.
- Ante Rebic:
Rebic was very impressive in the World Cup with Croatia and United are desperately in need of a right winger. He can play on either of the wings and has the potential to become one of the best in that position. Rebic, currently with Eintracht Frankfurt will be easy to lure compared to the other players in this list and if United are to strongly challenge for both the Premier League and Champions League, they should get Rebic anyhow.
- Alex Sandro:
If there is position in United’s current lineup that desperately needs a change other than the center back position, it’s the left back position. Last season, Ashley Young did a fair job in the make-shift role but it wasn’t enough as the Englishman lacks the pace and threat, a left back needs. Luke Shaw has had his problems with injury and poor form and it is doubtful of how consistent he can be this coming season. Alex Sandro has been great for Juventus and he can be the perfect left back for Jose Mourinho but it will take some convincing to bring him at Old Trafford given that Cristiano Ronaldo is now present in Turin.
- Toby Alderweireld:
The Belgian center back has been linked with a move to United from quite some time now but it seems that an agreement between the Red Devils and Spurs cannot be reached. Toby has been one of Premier League’s best center backs in the past few years and United need someone like him at the back to rally the backline with utmost confidence. Toby alongside Bailly or Lindelof can turn out to be very effective and can bring United the stability they need in the defence.
- Ivan Perisic:
Strengthening the defence is one thing but as it is said that attack is the best defence. United’s attack lacked the tenacity and penetration that Manchester City had. United did score goals but more than often they were predictable as most of their effective attack came from the left. United need a natural winger and Ivan Perisic is the answer for that. Perisic can play on either of the wings and he has the flair and skills to both provide and score on the pitch. With the limited time left in the transfer window, it will be tricky to get the Croatian but if United do succeed in signing him, they surely will be considered as title favorites for this upcoming season.
