5 candidates who can win the Golden Boot in the Premier League this season:
- Alvaro Morata (Chelsea):
It is not a popular opinion but the Spanish striker has the capabilities to be very effective in front of the goal for the Blues. Morata had a good start to the season last year but his form drastically dropped in the second half of the season. This season under Maurizio Sarri can be a different one with the Italian showing belief in the Spaniard. Sarri likes to play a fast-paced football which would suit Morata’s style and could help the former Juventus player score plenty of goals this season.
- Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United):
The Belgian striker had a fantastic World Cup in Russia this year and would be high on confidence to carry the same form at the club level. Lukaku managed to score 27 goals and nine assists in all competitions last season in spite United not playing that attacking a football. His strength, pace and finishing qualities will be of great importance this season and it shouldn’t come as surprise if Lukaku is leading the race this season to win the Golden Boot.
- Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal):
The Gabonese signed for Arsenal in the January transfer window last season and has a reputation of scoring goals in a substantial quantity. Aubameyang with his electric pace and sharp finishing can be a goal machine this season for the Gunners. With some quality playmakers behind him in the form of Henrik Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil, Aubameyang can be a lot more involved in goals especially under the guidance of Unai Emery. It is only right to consider the former Borussia Dortmund striker as one of the strong candidates to win the Golden Boot this season.
- Sergio Aguero (Manchester City):
The Argentine was seen in fine form in the Community Shield victory against Chelsea this Sunday. The former Atletico Madrid has always been a very effective and efficient striker in the Premier League and it is very natural to consider him as one of the likely players to win the Golden Boot this season. Aguero with his phenomenal finishing and excellent positioning will be a huge threat for the defending champions this season.
- Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur):
The English captain had a fine World Cup winning the Golden Boot in Russia. He would love to carry the same form in the Premier League come the new season. Kane’s prolific goal-scoring record has been no secret and there is no other player in this list who is touted to win the Golden Boot more than Harry Kane. It will be concerning that Spurs haven’t signed a player this summer but that shouldn’t be a hurdle for Kane to carry on his goal scoring spree in the league.
